Even celebs can't escape the overdressed gf - underdressed bf trope

Don't you hate it when you get all dressed up to go out with your significant other, but he shows up wearing a tracksuit with a hat pulled over his hoodie and a pair of shoes that don't match the outfit?

If you were in a similar situation, know that you are not alone. Hailey Bieber recently found herself in this very predicament with her husband Justin - a classic case of an overdressed gf and an underdressed bf.

Always put together, Mrs. Bieber regularly steps out looking on point, while Justin on the other hand, has become known as a serial under-dresser, constantly wearing hoodies, baggy jeans, oversized tees and backwards caps to date nights and events where "casual" probably isn't in the dress code.

Recently we came upon a new case. While Hailey got all dressed up to promote her skincare brand's new collaboration with a national donut chain in New York, her husband, Justin, didn't get the memo and showed up in a groutfit with a trucker hat pullet over his hoodie and a pair of bright yellow crocs.

The Biebers have long embodied the extremes of "overdressed gf and underdressed bf" trope. But the most recent instance which occurred on the day Hailey launched her Krispy Kreme collaboration with her skincare company Rhode, seemed to catch everyone's attention. "He's always dressed like he's about to go help his mom bring in the groceries from the car", user @SaeedDiCaprio wrote on Twitter.

Although he didn't deck himself out in head-to-toe strawberry merch, Justin is without a doubt a supportive husband. Behind the scenes videos capture Justin in full IG husband mode, snapping pictures of his wife in front of her Times Square billboard. It is very clear that he doesn't want the attention on him. He wants her to stand out while he just shows up to support her and show her love from the sidelines, and i honestly love that.

But the Bieber's complete inability to dress for the same occasion has become the most relatable thing about them. And while the highly memed fashion divide is a largely heteronormative phenomenon, it resonates with us. There is something about him always sticking to his own fashion sense. I kind of love that he doesn't care what everyone thinks. You can always tell when a partner (in most cases men) has become a dress-up doll. The Bieber's have found what works for them as individuals - even if its memeable from the outside perspective.

Don't get me wrong, it's not only the Biebers. See: Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger, who wore a three-piece neon oink fishnet outfit and a grey t-shirt and jeans, respectively to a Moschino event. Adam Sandler wore a Knicks hoodie to his own movie premiere while his wife Jackie wore an LBD and heels. It even applies to George and Amal Clooney, when she wore a gold minidress to his Casamigos tequila event while he opted for a white button down and jeans. (It's time to point out that the underdressed parties here are men, and there is a certain expectation for women to always appear presentable, these are ladies who are inclined to pull out a look in any situation.)

And although not much else about their lives is relatable, at least we were able to find common ground over their mismatched outfits.
